isherwood's first release DEADMAN HIGH (dMh) is a culmination of styles unified by the soulful ease of the layered vocals. The project began when he hooked up with Hamilton notables Dan Achen (Junk House) and Glen Marshall at Catherine North Recording, a converted church complete with stainglass jesus, turkish rugs and plush velvet couches; an atmosphere inducive to a 'try-anything' recording process. All types of vintage instruments were literally messed with from pump organ, farfissa, moog, melotron to muted duct-taped piano strings. The result is the development of stand-alone, one-man piano songs into a sonic mélange of vintage, tripped out keys, guitars and harmonies. A polyphony of guitars sounding like keyboards and vice versa. This is the experimental sound isherwood adheres to - music that creates question marks. The record was mixed by the kunkussion brothers @ metalworks and iguana in Toronto, with the exception of track 1 'deadman high' which was mixed by Matt Dematteo. Mastering was done @ masterdisc, NYC by Leon Zervos.
